Description
This hat was inspired by the many Victorian fashion plates on hats you can find on internet or in books ^^
I didn't use any patterns this time: I basically made a circle (again filled with shoulder fillings, so professional *ahem*) and used velvet & satin scraps to shape the swirly thingies on top. I completed the hat with 2 ostrich feathers (one on each side, running from front to back) and passementerie ribbons (the fancy braids).
I hope I can take photos of the back side soon, because there's also some stuff going on which includes the use of lace doilies
Just like my other things: friendly critiques and comments are very welcome, about what you think could be better or maybe about your own experiences with making hats and keeping the damn things on if hatpins don't work on you (argh!). I love to learn about this stuff and since I have no education in millinery or fashion I just try stuff untill it works. So I'm happy to hear someone else's thoughts on this matter ^^
I've cut this out from photographs which are (among others) made by Eric Oaktree at Castlefest 2013 (fantasy fair in Holland).
